A Trial User Told Us Our ERP Workflow Felt Disconnected. They Were Right.
At PAX ERP, we are always working to make the system easier, faster, and more intuitive for small manufacturers.
That sounds obvious, but in ERP software it is not always easy. ERP touches almost every part of a company: sales, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, shipping, receiving, invoicing, payments, accounting, reporting, and more.
Those workflows are connected in real life, so the software needs to feel connected too.
Recently, a trial user reviewed PAX and gave us honest feedback: the system was capable, but the workflow felt disconnected for how their team worked day to day.
That feedback was helpful because it came from a real user looking at the system with fresh eyes. Not a developer. Not someone who already knew where every button was. Someone comparing the experience to how their company actually works.
We took that seriously.
Low Click Count Is Not Enough
We recently published a click-efficiency study measuring how many clicks it takes to reach common destinations in PAX ERP.
Across 163 measured destinations, the average destination was 2.17 clicks from the dashboard, the median was 2 clicks, and 92.6% of measured destinations were reachable within 3 clicks.

Those are strong numbers, but the feedback reminded us of something important:
A system can be low-click and still feel unintuitive if the layout does not match the user’s mental workflow.
For example, finance users may think in terms of receivables, payables, banking, credit cards, general ledger, close, and reports.
Manufacturing users may think in terms of BOMs, routers, work orders, materials, labor, and finished goods.
Shipping users may think in terms of creating shipments, viewing shipments, quotes, receiving, and returns.
If those functions are technically close, but not grouped in a way that feels natural, the user still has to stop and think.
That is friction.
What We Changed
Based on our click-efficiency work and recent trial feedback, we cleaned up the main dashboard to make common ERP functions easier to find and easier to follow.
Some of the changes include:
Finance was reorganized around familiar work centers:
- Receivables
- Payables
- Banking
- Credit Cards
- GL & Close
- Reports
We also added quicker access to common finance details like AR Aging, Overdue Invoices, AP Aging, and PO Accruals.
Shipping & Receiving now surfaces common actions like Create Shipment, View Shipments, and Shipping Quotes more directly.
Sales Orders now has quicker access to Create Order and Open Orders.
Manufacturing now surfaces BOMs, Routers, Issue Materials, and Log Labor / WIP to FG more directly from the dashboard.
BOMs and Routers also received workflow improvements, including faster search and quicker access to build quantity checks.
The goal is simple: reduce clicks to high-use ERP tasks while keeping the dashboard clean and understandable for each department.
Why Feedback Matters
We build PAX every day, but that also means we are close to the system.
Feedback from real users helps us see where the product feels natural and where it does not. That is especially important in ERP, where a small navigation issue can slow down repetitive daily work.
We greatly appreciate honest feedback because it helps us improve the system for the companies actually using it.
Not every comment leads to a change. But when feedback reveals a real workflow issue, we want to act on it quickly.
Help Us Improve PAX ERP
We are opening this up to more feedback.
Whether you are actively looking for an ERP system or not, we would like to hear from people who understand ERP workflows and can give us honest thoughts on the PAX trial experience.

- Feedback must be based on actually reviewing the trial.
- Feedback should be specific enough to be useful.
- Limit one feedback payment per person.
- The offer is capped at the first 50 qualified trial signups.
We are not looking for perfect praise. We are looking for useful feedback.
If something feels confusing, tell us.
If a workflow feels slow, tell us.
If something is easier than expected, tell us that too.
PAX ERP exists to help small manufacturers run better without the complexity, cost, and frustration that often comes with ERP software. The best way to keep improving is to keep listening to real users.
